Memory Bear “Precious Keepsake”

Some hospice volunteers help our patient families remember their loved ones by creating a Memory Bear Precious Keepsake, which is a stuffed bear made from their loved ones’ garments. The family provides an article of clothing that has meaning to them or their loved one, we provide the pattern, thread and stuffing, and volunteers make the bears for the family members.

Families who receive these Memory Bears made from their loved one’s clothing express sentiments such as “This is beautiful!” and “I’ll treasure this forever.” If you would like to donate your sewing skills and time to help with this important and meaningful part of our volunteer program, please call our Volunteer Coordinator at 225-291-9421 or complete and submit the below form.
